How I work
Considered search.
Clear accountability.
The person taking the brief is the same person researching the market, approaching candidates, advising both sides and managing the process through to completion. No hand-offs.
Understand the brief
The role, the business, the people. A proper conversation before the search begins, because a better search starts with a better conversation. I get under the skin of the actual business problem, rather than simply recruiting against a job description.
Map the market
A considered view of the whole relevant market, not just the obvious names and not just a database. You’ll know early how many credible people exist, where they are and roughly what they cost, and whether the brief needs to change.
Approach and assess
Personal, discreet conversations with the people worth talking to. A clear-eyed assessment of fit and ambition, shared honestly in both directions.
Advise and close
Straight advice, thoughtful negotiation and ownership through to the start date. I stay close through notice periods, because that is where searches quietly fail.
Discretion
Nothing moves without agreement.
No CV goes anywhere without the candidate’s agreement, and confidential briefs are handled by me alone. Names, companies and circumstances stay out of sight until both sides are ready.
Questions
Often asked.
For a senior appointment, plan on six months to a year from brief to start date. The search itself usually takes eight to twelve weeks, but senior people often have three to six months’ notice to serve. Contract roles move much faster, often days.
It depends on the assignment, and it’s always agreed in writing before any work starts. I’ll recommend the right approach when we talk through the brief.
Mostly senior and specialist roles, where getting the hire right matters most. If a role isn’t a good fit for how I work, I’ll tell you and point you somewhere useful.
I’m based in the UK and work across the UK and the Gulf, with recent assignments in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. I’ll take on an assignment anywhere it makes sense.
No. Your details stay with me, and nothing goes to any company until you’ve agreed it, by name.
Never. My fees are paid by the hiring business.
Me. The person who takes the brief is the person who researches the market, speaks to candidates and sees the hire through to the start date.
